Matt Heff has been proudly stopping cyber criminals since 1998 with career stops at General Electric, NBC Television, Caesars Entertainment, and most recently serving TJX, Inc (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods). He holds a variety of college degrees and certs, and originally hails from the east coast.
In January 2016, Heff (his preferred named) joined Sands Corp as their Senior Manager of Global Cyber Security – responsible for training, awareness, and developing their world-class cyber security team. This includes the Venetian and Palazzo Resorts in Las Vegas, in addition to properties globally from Macau to Singapore and Pennsylvania. He trains, coaches, mentors and coordinates development for a variety of Sands Global Cyber Security professionals including Cyber Security Operations teams, Digital Forensics Investigation teams, Cyber Strategy teams, Governance & Risk teams, Vulnerability Management & Penetration Testing teams, and Incident Response and Threat Intelligence teams. In addition, he develops and promotes cyber security awareness globally for 60,000+ team members worldwide.
Career highlights include successfully responding to the 45.7 million credit and debit card compromise while employed at TJX, Inc. He serves UNLV as a Cyber Security Committee Member as part of their UNLV School of Engineering efforts to introduce Cyber Security Bachelor degrees curriculum to the UNLV School of Computer Science. In addition, Heff supports and guides CSN as a representative and advisor for their Cyber Security Team, advising curriculum for Cyber Security Associate Degree. He also supports and serves the Clark County School District (CCSD) in their efforts to expand and introduce CyberPatriot Clubs, industry mentors, cyber technical coaches and cyber security curriculum into CCSD High School and Middle Schools. His proudest accomplishment is his family, wife Karen, mischievous toddler Klary and Baby Ryker (a huge fan of Star Trek)
Heff has spoken at a variety of conferences and events including the Department of Homeland Security Corporate Security Symposium, speaking on Counter intelligence – Insider Threats in December 2016. In January 2017, Heff spoke at the Winter ICT Conference in San Jose on building partnerships between Industry and Academia to create ‘Experiential Layer’ experiences to help students become ‘Combat Ready’. He is scheduled to speak at the Camp IT Conference on Enterprise Risk/Security Management in April 2017. Most recently, Heff was invited to provide the keynote at the 21st Colloquium For Information Systems Security Education in May 2017.
